“I’m going to kill that little goat fuck,” Wes seethed in the passenger seat of my truck.

I was glad I drove instead of him, or else we’d have sailed over a guardrail. Either that or he would have rammed his truck into the front of my uncle’s bar.

“Shutting us down? Doesn’t he get that we have employees?” Wes continued his tirade with exactly zero input from me.

It was true that we had employees, but the fact of the matter was that until the repairs were done, we couldn’t reopen anyway. Plus, the insurance policy I chose for the place covered our employees for up to a month. There was a lot to do, and I was going to continue to do it no matter what Arlo said.

I’d tried to bring both points up to my brother, but he wasn’t having it. Arlo and Ben were the enemy now, and any bright side talk was strictly forbidden until he’d calmed down.

I was more worried about Ben’s involvement. I didn’t know what he had on Arlo, but it had to be something big if he was just rolling over and letting him have free rein.

I opened my mouth to try and get a word in, but Wes wasn’t having it.

“I swear to everything holy, if Arlo doesn’t get his head out of his ass and sign the transfer papers, I’m calling our attorney. He bought that property illegally, dammit.”

Arlo had bought The Antler illegally. He knew it, too. He was also refusing to allow us to buy him out. Maybe not illegal, but still shady as all hell.

It made me wonder what else he was doing that wasn’t exactly above board.

And whether or not Ben knew about it.
